Instructor
Mat Yeaton
Mat Yeaton joins us after a distinguished law enforcement career spanning more than two decades. Never expecting to be that guy who says, “Well, when I started…,” he still can’t resist reminding people that he once hand-wrote crash reports.
Born, raised, and educated in the State of Maine, Mat has always called it home, where he also raised his family. Now enjoying more time for hobbies and family events, he can still be found meeting former colleagues for coffee or quietly buying lunch for an unsuspecting officer. Anyone who knows him knows: Mat is truly a cop’s cop.
After several years in patrol, Mat discovered his passion for impaired driving enforcement, field training, and academy instruction. That passion soon sparked a desire for deeper, more complex investigations. Transitioning into crash reconstruction, he found his drive to answer the elusive “why” and “how,” which led him to the ranks of Detective. His investigative career later expanded into cellphone forensics and human trafficking cases.
With a lifelong passion for teaching, Mat has joined our ranks to share his enthusiasm, knowledge, and real-world experience with the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
